There’s nothing like a mother and daughter relaxing and spending some quality time
together. And that’s what this Gift of a Day was all about. Helping a mother
and daughter make up for a missed opportunity…”fishing down by the pond.”
So, the Crossroads’ team of Dara Evans and Tanya Moore got busy planning. But they
had to be a little creative because the “fishing excursion” needed to happen at
an assisted living facility. Let’s see, we’ll need a pond, some fish, fishing gear
(including a lucky fishing hat), a camper and a beautiful, sunny day from Mother Nature.
Well, Dara and Tanya managed to pull it all together. |
They got a pond (a.k.a. kiddy pool), and rented a camper, courtesy of the Crossroads Foundation.
A volunteer from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation provided the fish,
bait, and fishing poles!
With the pond situated under a shady tree, and covered
with brush for authenticity, it was time to fish. And they did…successfully. They
enjoyed a long afternoon outside; spent some time in the camper; enjoyed a campfire; and topped it all
off with their favorite meal—enchiladas and ice cream! But, it wasn’t just any old
ice cream…it was “Mom’s special ice cream recipe.” Yummy! And the perfect way to
end a truly beautiful day. |
