Social Workers: Celebrate Their Superpowers

social worker superheroesUp in the sky! It’s a bird. It’s a plane.

It’s your Crossroads Hospice social worker!

Okay, we admit it, flying isn’t one of their powers and they don’t wear a cape, but social workers bring important superpowers to our team of hospice superheroes – and we couldn’t do what we do without them.

If they can’t fly, what are their superpowers?

Super Flexible

Social workers have more flexibility than Stretch Armstrong,” says Carleigh Chatfield, Support Services Director in Cincinnati, OH.

Social workers must be flexible and instant problem solvers. People come to us with their most difficult problems from which they are seeking immediate relief,” Philadelphia Support Services Director Tanya Saylor shares.

X-Ray Vision

“Social workers see through the surface of a situation,” explains Kristin Kitzmiller, Support Service Director in Valley View, OH.

I often hear the comment ‘I had no idea you even picked up on that,’” adds Ron Davis, Support Service Director in Green, OH. “Our intuition often allows us to know what the end results will be well before it comes to fruition.

Super Problem Solvers

We are super creative when it comes to finding solutions to difficult problems,” says Angela Arnold, Support Services Director in Memphis, TN.

“Social workers find resources where they can’t be found,” agrees our Kansas City Support Services Director Val Criswell.

Super Strength

“Social workers are able to work through difficult situations longer than most people,” says Ron. “It’s why many of us can be labeled as `stubborn.’ It’s just some never say never when it comes to helping others.

Throughout the month of March, we’re celebrating superhero social workers on our team and in our community. Later this month, we’ll be naming the winners of our Caring More Award which recognizes social workers with a proven track record of going above and beyond in the care they provide in their communities.
