Steps to Thriving Personally and Professionally

Growth isn’t about making huge leaps overnight—it’s about small, consistent steps that align with your goals and values. Whether you’re striving to improve your skills, strengthen team relationships, or find deeper meaning in your work, growth starts with intentionality. Here are five practical steps to help you thrive:

    1. Reflect on where you are

Take 15 minutes this week to think about your current role. What energizes you? What drains you? Where do you feel stuck? Self-reflection is the foundation of growth. By identifying what’s working and what’s not, you can take the first step toward positive change.

    2. Dialogue with discomfort

If something bothers you, ask it what it wants. Why are you here annoying me? What are you trying to tell me? It might sound odd at first but when we give the different aspects of ourselves to speak, we make progress.  There’s a great example of this on the sit-com Big Bang Theory, called the Council of Sheldon’s.

    3. Commit to one action

Choose one small, actionable goal to focus on for the next month. Whether it’s improving communication, reducing stress, or supporting a colleague, small steps create momentum. For example, if you want to manage your time better, start by planning your top three priorities each morning.

    4. Help others grow

Growth is contagious. Be intentional about encouraging teammates, offering meaningful feedback, or asking how you can support them. Building a culture of growth starts with relationships.

    5. Use your resources

Remember, you’re not alone. Crossroads offers programs to help you succeed. Don’t hesitate to reach out to a mentor, leader, or peer for guidance.

Every step you take toward growth—no matter how small—creates a ripple effect. When you invest in yourself, you inspire others, and together, we all thrive.

    KPIs Drive Annual MORE Awards

    The Metrics Behind the Glory

In business, a KPI is a Key Performance Indicator. While they aren’t the subject of light conversation, KPIs are behind every aspect of Crossroads’ delivery of end-of-life care.

KPIs are what drive Crossroads’ annual awards program, known as The MORE Awards. The MORE Awards were personally created by our Founder and CEO Perry Farmer many years ago. To identify winning sites, Perry crunches numbers from the entire year. The awards are then presented each spring.

In business, a KPI is a Key Performance Indicator. While they aren’t the subject of light conversation, KPIs are behind every aspect of Crossroads’ delivery of end-of-life care.

KPIs are what drive Crossroads’ annual awards program, known as The MORE Awards. The MORE Awards were personally created by our Founders Perry and Clayton Farmer many years ago. To identify winning sites, Perry crunches numbers from the entire year. The awards are then presented each spring.

Below is a list of Crossroads MORE Awards.

    • Community Impact Award
    • Clinical Outcome Award
    • Ben Franklin Award
    • Mutual Admiration Award
    • Promise Keeper Award
    • Direct Care Award
    • Ultimate Giver Award
    • Volunteer Award
    • More Award
    • Lucky “7” Award
    • Most Outstanding Location

Additional details about the importance of the awards and the formulas behind calculating sites’ performance will be provided in a handout for team members in early January before the 2025 awards are determined.

Crossroads’ MORE Awards represent the standards that have guided the company’s success over its nearly 30-year history. Our MORE Awards take on new meaning in 2025 as we return to the very things that fueled our growth and innovation. Now as a smaller company we couldn’t be better positioned for continued success.

We are thankful for our many talented and dedicated team members in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dayton, Memphis, Northeast Ohio and Philadelphia.
