Crossroads provides hospice in-service training at no cost to healthcare professionals at hospitals, nursing homes, long-term care facilities and related organizations. Crossroads’ in-services help healthcare professionals understand the end-of-life process and the physical and emotional needs of a hospice patient.

If you’re an administrator, director of nursing or a facility educator who is responsible for coordinating ongoing education at your facility, Crossroads is here to help. Clinical in-service training

Our clinical in-service programs are free of charge and provide information about common issues related to caring for patients with life-limiting illnesses. Each hospice in-service provides healthcare professionals with valuable learnings and actionable insight.

Hospice Eligibility for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders.

This in-service provides fundamental information about Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, including signs and symptoms commonly experienced by patients with this diagnosis. This in-service will also review the tools used to determine the stage of these diseases and when a hospice assessment should be performed to determine if the disease has progressed to an end stage.

HIPAA 101 – The Basics.

Healthcare providers are at a higher risk than ever for HIPAA and PHI violations and breaches that not only affect the patient but can result in costly fines for facilities. This in-service reviews the basics of HIPAA and PHI. It includes a refresher course about what constitutes HIPAA and PHI, the definition of a breach, an overview of the “Minimum Necessary Rule Standard,” ways to prevent the improper release of information, and how to prevent and report a HIPAA violation and/or breach.

Hospice 101 – The Basics.

This in-service compares the differences between palliative treatment versus curative treatment and how to determine a hospice prognosis. It also outlines a variety of diseases and common symptoms that may indicate a terminal prognosis. It covers how and why the added benefit of hospice has a positive impact on the patient and family and the facility.

Dementia: Managing Combative Behaviors for Aide Personnel.

This in-service covers dementia and associated combative behaviors. It reviews dementia myths, what causes combativeness and methods for effectively managing the complexities of dementia.

Bereavement in-service training

Simply defined, grief is the normal and natural reaction to significant emotional loss of any kind. The range of emotions associated with grief is as varied as the person experiencing it. Our in-service bereavement training offers tips and experience about dealing with death and dying for patients and families.

Tips for being present with the dying.

This in-service provides information and tips regarding how to be present at the time of death. Attendees will learn ways to offer gestures of compassion and how to identify nonverbal cues that could signify how to interact with an individual.
