90-year-old World War II veteran honored
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WRGT/WKEF) - There was a very special birthday celebration for a World War II veteran Saturday.
Family, friends and even Ohio Rep. Rick Parales (R) honored the 90-year-old World War II vet Charles Leist. Leist was a Chief Master Sergeant in the US Air Force from 1947 til 1953 before serving in the Ohio Air National Guard.
Leist is currently a hospice patient so family and friends wanted to brighten up his day and honor him for his 38 years of service to our country.
The special celebration was all a part of the Crossroads Hospice Gift of a Day Program. The goal of the program is to bring life to a patient's personal vision of what the perfect day might be.
