Timothy Ihrig, M.D., a nationally known expert in palliative care, is new Chief Medical Officer and Walter George, M.D., a highly experienced clinician and medical educator with over 32 years of service, is new Senior Vice President for Physician Education and Services at Crossroads Hospice & Palliative Care, one of the nation’s leading hospice providers.

Dr. Ihrig is a leading authority on hospice and palliative care and longstanding advocate for treating patients with life limiting illnesses according to their individual priorities and life goals - focusing on full transparency and quality of life.

His TED Talk, “What We Can Do to Die Well,” urges doctors to focus not so heavily on clinical interventions at the expense of overlooking patients’ overall quality of life and helping them navigate serious illnesses from diagnosis to death with dignity and compassion.

Dr. Ihrig received his Doctor of Medicine and M.A. in Molecular Biology at the University of Nebraska, completed residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa, Des Moines, and Palliative Medicine and Hospice training at Stanford University. He is endorsed by the Center to Advance Palliative Care as a clinician-educator and served as consultant to palliative care entities and Accountable Care Organizations globally.

Dr. George has been Medical Director for Crossroads’ Cleveland location since 2011. During that time, he has selflessly grown to lead and educate physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and hospice teams across all of Crossroads’ national locations, according to CEO Perry Farmer.

”Because of Dr. George’s conviction and commitment to improving the care of his patients and their families, we are proud to announce that he has been named Senior Vice President in charge of Physician Education and Services,” said Farmer.

Dr. George received his Doctor of Medicine from Case Western Reserve University Medical School, did his residency at Stanford University Medical Center, and is a board-certified radiologist.
