DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A patient with Crossroads Hospice and career truck driver got to take one last ride in an 18 wheeler.
Lonnie Roach spent 26 years driving a chemical tank truck. He hasn’t been able to drive for years since suffering from an illness and he says he greatly misses it.
But that changed Monday thanks to the Crossroads Hospice gift of the day program. Lonnie got to take a spin on an auto transport truck.
“I can’t believe it. I really can’t. Its something. It was a different dream,” said Lonnie. “I’d love to go again myself. But I’d like to be the driver.”
Lonnie’s ride lasted about an hour and he got to travel from the downtown Dayton area to Huber Heights and back.
