WHAT:
Crossroads Hospice, Heartland Cremation and Burial Society, and Lakeview Village are coming together to sponsor a patriotic flag retirement ceremony featuring music, barbeque, an antique car show, and a formal flag-folding ceremony during a performance of Taps.

Approximately 500 will be in attendance as more than 100 flags are retired by local Boy Scouts. Preceding the event, local veterans and their families, as well as patriotic residents, are invited to enjoy a barbeque and an antique car show.

Dozens of veterans are expected to participate in the event, including several who experienced the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.

“We wanted to have a celebration of our veterans, to honor them and honor the flag,” said Scott Christ, Executive Director of Crossroads Hospice in Lenexa. “We’ve invited World War II veterans, survivors of Pearl Harbor, and members of Wounded Warriors and Legion Clubs. It’s going to be an incredible event.”
