Retired OKC firefighter gets a memorable surprise
Oklahoma City, Okla. (KOKH) — Clarence Jones, a retired Oklahoma City firefighter captain received a gift he will never forget.
A program at Crossroads Hospice in OKC where Jones is a resident, put together a heartfelt celebration at his old job that he retired from in 1977.
Captain Clarence Jones was a firefighter for more than two decades at station 17 in Oklahoma City.
Jones's daughter called around to stations and landed on this one to help create a perfect day that Jones would appreciate.
After celebrating the day with old stories, cake and ice cream, he still had one big surprise left.
The firefighters at station 32 were able to surprise Jones with a ride in the same firetruck he used to ride in while on the job. He event got to sit in the same seat as he did so many years ago.
The "Gift of a Day" program at the hospice is geared towards residents being able to have an ideal day that will never be forgotten, and Jones got just that.
