Contestant on NBC’s The Voice has a Heart for Hospice
Tonight, Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams join Adam Levine and Blake Shelton on the new season of The Voice. They’re hunting for the best singers in the country, but here at Crossroads Hospice, we will be cheering for just one voice: James David Carter.
That’s because we know this talented Atlanta native has a heart of gold to match his golden voice.
Even as he was preparing for The Voice, James David took time out of his schedule for a music-loving patient’s Gift of a Day. The Crossroads Hospice Gift of a Day program asks patients what they would want if they could have one perfect day, and then we try to make that Gift happen.
In this patient’s case, her family was all very far away, so her best friend became her caregiver and was very in touch with her likes and interests. Although Alzheimer’s Disease has robbed the patient of communication, she would rally when country music was played. James David Carter was happy to oblige.
He shares, “It was just inspiring to see someone who is normally non-verbal and who doesn’t react to much, open her eyes and to be so aware of the music. I’m always amazed at the power music has as a way to communicate between all types of people no matter where they are in their life. I was so honored to play a small part in making one of her last wishes come true.”
Best of Luck, James David! Thank you for all you’ve done to brighten our patients’ days.
