The Crossroads Veteran Recognition Ceremony
At Crossroads Hospice & Palliative Care, we take great pride in supporting our nation’s Veterans as they approach end of life. A cornerstone of this care is our Veteran Recognition Ceremony which pays tribute to the service of our Veteran patients.
In fact, each of our locations is a We Honor Veterans partner with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO). This special recognition is given to organizations that demonstrate a systemic commitment to improving care for Veterans.
Veteran Recognition Ceremony
Many Veterans approaching end of life have never shared much about their military experience or service records. The Veteran Recognition Ceremony gives the patients the grateful thanks they are due while allowing their family the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of their service and sacrifice.
Our team tailors the Veteran Recognition Ceremony to each patient’s unique situation. Some are awarded in public, but most are performed as moving private ceremonies in the patient’s home. The Veteran Recognition Ceremony includes the presentation of a certificate of appreciation, a medal of honor, and a cap recognizing their service.
It’s a special moment for our patient, their family, and our Crossroads team.
“A sense of fulfillment and life-satisfaction are essential to experiencing peace at the end of life,” says Crossroads Chaplain Clark Smith. “Celebrating the sacrifice, service, and patriotism of our veterans is a gift that we give with joy and admiration. For a veteran to hear “job well done” or “mission accomplished” one more time is the least we can do for those who served our country. The Veteran’s Recognition ceremonies is one of the greatest services Crossroads delivers.”
