When the Concert Comes to You
Love of Led Zeppelin Leads to Rockin’ Birthday
It was 1968 in London, England when the rock band Led Zeppelin was formed. Inspired by blues and folk, the band had a guitar-driven heavy sound that Americans loved.
David Fries is one of them. For his Gift of a Day David Fries had wanted to see a Led Zeppelin tribute band. The outing was to also be a way to celebrate his birthday. Unfortunately, due to his fragile condition, David was unable to attend a concert.
That was when his Crossroads care team decided to bring a concert to David at his long-term care facility. His social worker searched tirelessly for a live band to perform and finally hit local rock gold.
She invited Clockwork, a popular local rock group to perform for David. They agreed and due to word spreading fast, the room was packed with other fans too.
A local newspaper even covered the performance and interviewed David about his love of Led Zeppelin and rock music for a feature article. Everyone agreed that David’s Crossroads care team really rocked this Gift of a Day birthday event for a very special, rock music-loving person.
